Adoption: A Second Chance
March 11th
marks the yearly anniversary of a significant day in my life. It is
the day I began my second chance at life - to have a future and
to be somebody. Being adopted gave me and my three brothers the opportunity
to see what being a part of a family is supposed to be. My family has
given me security, stability, and a place to call home. When I became
adopted, I was given opportunities to be a part of school activities,
clubs, church and organizations. I was introduced to people in the community
and schools, who welcomed me and mentored me. My parents also provided
me and my eight siblings with a sound value system, morals and loving
discipline.
I began
working at Taco Bell two years ago. I am thankful for the chance to
work for the things I want in life. I've worked hard to get myself
a car and begin to build a savings account for college. I am learning
a solid work ethic. These things I would not have been able to do if
I had not had a caring family to raise me and teach me what is important
in life. They gave me a second chance.
Being adopted
has given me the chance to look at future goals and to fulfill my dreams
I've had since I was a little boy. For as long as I
can remember I have desired to be involved in the medical field. I was
born prematurely and I know babies born into this world early can suffer
a host of complications. For these little ones, life can be a real struggle.
I want to help them get their first chance at life. My goals
is to become a Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse. My desire is to pursue
college through Cox College of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri. Upon
graduation, I would like to work locally with Cox Hospital in their NIC
unit.
I will
always be thankful for the people who have come into my life and helped
me fulfill my goals. Second chances don't get any better than this!
